This is the fifth time that the Greek team wins a world title in the category of “Tornado” sailboats (light catamarans). In the team are Kostas Trigonis and Iordanis Paschalidis, taking first place in 9 out of 10 sailing races of the world championship which took place from the 5th to the 12th September in Carnac, France.
Second place took the German team Roland, Nahid Gaebler, and in third place came the Greek team Nikos Mavros, Alexandros tagaropoulos.
There was a total of 27 sailboats from 7 different countries.
“This was the fifth world cup and 19th in total in my career – and that’s why I’ll keep it up until I get to a Black Jack…21!”, said Trigonis after the race. “We want to win the sixth world championship next year, in order to break the world record currently set by Darren Bundock and John Forbes”, said Paschalidis.
Such an ambitious team is sure to keep making the effort and sacrifices needed to achieve even more in the years to come.
