Athens Flying Week, one of the most prestigious aviation events in Europe, was back for its annual date with the public, from September 7, 2015 to September 13, 2015 at Faliro and Tatoi.
Athens Flying Week took place for the first time in 2012. Since then, a total of more than 200,000 spectators have attended this breath-taking show. In addition, more than 30 air crews and international aviation champions have presented their aerobatic skills while “dancing in the air”.
AFW 2015 events kicked off on Tuesday September 8 with the Aviation Development Conference #4 which was hosted at Hotel Grande Bretagne. On Wednesday September 9 the customary pre-show took place along the coast of Palaio Faliro. Spectators had the opportunity to enjoy impressive aerial manoeuvres and low passes by various types of aircrafts, testing the limits of both men and machines.
However, this was only a sneak preview of the Air Show that followed on Saturday September 12 and Sunday September 13 at the Tatoi Air Base. The sky of Athens hosted an impressive number of participants, including the Demo-team of the Polish Air Force flying a MiG-29 Fulcrum, the Demo-team of the Hellenic Air Force “Zeus” flying a F-16 Blk 52+, as well as world champions such as Luca Bertossio, in a trip challenging the limits of imagination!
Athens Flying Week 2015 is organised in co-operation with the Region of Attica and the Municipality of Palaio Faliro. It is held under the auspices of prestigious institutions such as the Greek National Tourism Organisation, the Municipality of Athens, the Ministry of Infrastructure, Transport and Networks, ACVB, AOPA Hellas and HAPCO.
