70 students from the Medicine School of the AUTH (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki) have decided to swap a summer in Greek beaches for a summer helping out in health centres.
Many health centres in Northern Greece are short of staff so this initiative is just another way to help.
The students will be placed in health centres in need between July 13th and August 23rd. The minimum requirements for the students to be selected were at least three university years’ studies and clinical experience as well.
The applications for this initiative exceeded expectations, since they more than doubled the amount of students who could actually volunteer, due to accommodation allocation during their placement.
During the six weeks this initiative is taking place over, the placements will see students volunteer in health centres for a week in groups of two or three at a time.
